🚀 Getting Started
📝 Start a new project
Once you have created an account, let’s start your first project! You’ll be prompted to fill out some details about the story, it’s genre, and the maturity and reading ability of the intended reader. Completing these details will let you generate a first draft using our story teller AI, but if you prefer you can always create a blank document to get started from scratch.
✍️ Write your story
Story Scribbler uses a block-based editor, meaning each paragraph and image can be rearranged however you like, and you can insert new blocks wherever you like in the current story. Try hovering over a paragraph and using the + button to add a new paragraph, create an image, or have the story teller AI continue the story for you! Also, check out the “rewrite” button on the menu bar - it’s a powerful tool that lets you make major edits to your story, such as removing or renaming characters, rewriting the story with simpler language, making the story more mature, or anything else you desire!
Read our guides on writing with AI and creating AI illustrations to learn about Story Scribbler’s numerous AI writing features.
Remember to add your author pen-name and a cover image to your story (to create a cover image, just click the book cover placeholder image next to your story title, and you’ll be able to create a cover using the same tools as the editor).
Once you’re happy with your story, don’t forget to save with the button in the menu bar! Story Scribbler will automatically save rewrites, new images and various other edits, but it’s always better to manually save than to accidentally lose your work!
📖 Read & Share your story
If you return to “my projects”, you’ll notice your story will now be listed as a project! Click on “edit” to go back and edit your story at any time, and “read” to enter the reader view, which lets you read and share your story.
The most important part of the reader page is the “preferences” menu, allowing you to customise the font and text size of the e-reader, so your story looks great on any screen size and is friendly for students with reading difficulties.
You can share your story using the “sharing” menu - toggle the story to “public” and send the link to anyone in the world!
Read our guides on sharing your story and exporting your story for the run-down on all the features.
